Designing Emails for Action – EMSA 2008
Recently, I gave a presentation on Designing Emails for Action at EMSA – Email Marketing Summit of Australia.
I addressed this question: “Why is anyone going to open & read & action your email?”
The major ‘take home’ message was to have great content & to make it easy for the reader to follow your call to action!
The 20 Tips included simple things like using consistent From Lines & meaningful Subject Lines to making sure that the email ‘works’ when images are disabled.
All 20 Tips can be viewed in the powerpoint below & a video of the first 9 minutes is down under that.

Thanks for publishing about this. There’s a lot of solid tech info on the internet. You’ve got a lot of that info here on your website. I’m impressed – I try to keep a couple blogs reasonably ongoing, but it’s a struggle sometimes. You’ve done a solid job with this one. How do you do it?
Hi Bert and thanks for your kinds words. As for how we keep the blog going, we are lucky in that we have 9 authors who post content regularly so we share the workload between us.
We also find it is a useful & fun way to share our knowledge with each other and with clients!
Cool looking blog, might I ask you what template you are using and how much it costs? I’ve been using cheap ones but can’t find one that I actually like.
Hi Homebrew games,
It’s a custom template our designer Sarah Hyne put together. We have built blog & Wordpress templates before for clients under one of our Updates & Support packages. Depending on what we had to work with and what you required I’d say you could get away with our Economy U&S package for setting up something similar. Head to the Contact Us page if you’re interested. Cheers!
