| Web 2.0 | is another term for the web today where most people belong to a social media group which allows them to interact, upload their own photos, videos, blogs & offer comments to other people. Web 1.0 refers to the early days where the web was ‘read-only’ with little interaction. |
| is the social networking website where people connect with friends. Its popularity is soaring as it allows people to keep in touch with each other online. | |
| is like the Facebook for work. It is an online network of professionals where people can post their education, work history & current employment details and also look for new jobs. | |
| MySpace | was one of the earliest social networks to take off. It is a bit like Facebook in that it is free and social, but it was initially designed for musicians and bands to build a fan base. It's now generally also used by younger people (15-19yo). |
| YouTube | is a video sharing website where you can easily upload your own videos & create your own channel. It’s really as easy as recording something on your digital camera and uploading it straight to YouTube. |
| Blog | (short for weblog) is like an online personal diary used as an outlet for users to express their opinions or leave comments on other people’s content. Companies can also have blogs where staff post articles. |
| is a social website that allows people to regularly update their profile (just like they would on Facebook). It’s called microblogging and people post Tweets on their page, which other Twitterers can "follow". | |
| Facebook applications | or ‘Facebook apps’ are built by web developers and allow people to create additional functionality in Facebook. They can help people to connect, interact and entertain themselves and their ‘friends’. |
