History & Influences
Company founders, Adam Franklin & Toby Jenkins are mates from primary school days and started a web design business in Brisbane in January 2005. Both had returned from several years of overseas travel – Toby was an elite water polo player touring with the Australian team and playing in the Athens Olympics and Adam was simply travelling around the world for 2 years.
When they returned they decided to begin chasing their dream of running their own business. They were fortunate enough to be awarded a government grant to help get the business off the ground. A third friend actually formed the original partnership but he left in the first few months to pursue other opportunities.
Initially the business was fuelled solely by their passion & enthusiasm as they literally hit the streets looking for their first client. Both realised from day one that there was plenty they needed to learn being in business for the first time and being in an industry without any experience or technical expertise.
Their attitude right from the start has been to seek the advice of people who had already ‘done it’ themselves. Fortunately several generous people, all successful entrepreneurs, were prepared to mentor them and share the wisdom & lessons from their own business experience.
Confirming their personal belief, these mentors also saw it as a major advantage that neither Adam nor Toby had technical web design skills and this has proven itself to be true over the years.
In addition to the great & ongoing influence of these mentors, Bluewire Media has been shaped by the teachings of great business minds and have implemented systems & strategies taught by Verne Harnish, Jim Collins, David Meerman Scott, Chet Holmes, Jell Thull, Robert Bloom, Jack Daly, Tom McGaskill, Jay Abraham, Seth Godin, Michael Gerber, Justin Roff-Marsh, Dale Carnegie & Timothy Ferriss. In fact Bluewire's library has well over 100 books.
In January 2010, Bluewire Media celebrated its 5th birthday with a party at Chalk Hotel.
