No doubt you’ve heard of Instagram — Facebook recently bought it for $1B — but it’s free to use.  This simple photo app has essentially inspired our generation to take more photos than any other time in history!

You can take photos and apply all sorts of cool filters to make your pics look awesome.  If you haven’t got it on your phone yet, download Instragram on iTunes or on Android.

If you’re already a bit of a pro, try some apps to jazz up your pics, like PhotoEditor (free) and our favourite WordSwag ($2.99).…

Here are 4 things I’ve been experimenting with that have been working well.

1.  SumoMe Listbuilder

Installing this free WordPress app has seen an extra 579 subscribers in one month.

Results: Conversion rates in the teens,  but averaging ~9% (the average according to AppSumo is 1.66%)
Here is Noah Kagan’s post “What we learned helping you collect over 100,000 emails.”

This is a guest contribution from Emma Henry of True Target Marketing…

Welcome Emma

It is all too common for websites to be built and then sit dormant, doing nothing productive for a business. Your original web designer may have built you a decent looking site, however they probably did not create you a responsive website that attracts sales leads and converts them into paying customers. Now is the time to take action and make your website start converting like it should. Here’s how:

1. Clearly Articulate Your Offerings

One of the most important things is to make sure your website provides a good experience for the end user.…

The Art of Learning: Fractals, Water Polo and Marketing Templates

We do not learn from experience, but from reflecting on the experience.” – John Dewey

[This post (first posted here) started out as a book review and became a reflection on my own experiences of learning. The idea of fractal learning is one that I would love your feedback on. Is it useful? Could it be applied in a way that helps us to learn more rapidly or teach more effectively? With more depth or more focus on the passions we have?]

Josh Waitzkin has a fascinating story. He is:

  • 2 x US Junior Chess champion (his father wrote a book about his journey calledSearching for Bobby Fischer which was turned into a feature film of the same name),

  • Tai Chi Push Hands World Champion (2004) – the martial arts version of Tai Chi – and has subsequently coached others to that same title,

  • and founder of The Art of Learning Project.

In a conversation a short while ago, I asked James Price from JPA Business (a business advisory, valuation and broker firm) to explain the incredible valuations of WhatsApp and Instagram and how Facebook was able to justify multi-billion dollar price points for break-even businesses. He shares his response here.

Enter James…

What’s the story?

Some of you may have heard that Facebook, the world’s most successful and prevalent social media platform, has paid an extraordinary amount of money for two relatively young, online businesses. Those businesses are WhatsApp, which is a messaging, video and photo sharing mobile application, and Instagram, a popular mobile-based photo sharing site.…
