A new found respect for David Ogilvy

David Ogilvy is the godfather of advertising, but due to my pre-conceived ideas of old-school Mad Men advertisers, I’ve always assumed (wrongly) that he was a ‘creative branding’ type and not a measurement man.
Much to my excitement I’ve discovered he hated ‘creativity’ for the sake of it and is a huge advocate of direct response marketing because that is what sells.
Here is a brilliant video by the man himself from over 40 years ago. Incredible.
