“Intellectual Capital” VS “Intellectual Property”
Intellectual Capital:
Most consultants have an abundance of intellectual capital — ideas, knowledge and expertise “in their head” — which is therefore dependent on you personally delivering the value to clients.
This presents an opportunity to convert this knowledge (aka intellectual capital) into intellectual property (aka IP).
Intellectual Property (IP):
Converting your knowledge into IP allows you to convey your knowledge and expertise without you having to deliver it in person. IP can include things like methodologies, frameworks, training videos, books, resources and processes.
If you can unpack your intellectual capital and convert it into “IP” you can impact more people, scale beyond just you and create leverage in your business.
