Subj: Jail time for a negative comment..? True story [+ template]
What could you possibly say on social media that would land you in jail…?
Well, as you’ll discover in this short video, if people make violent, explicit threats on Facebook they are just as liable as if they say these things offline!
And this could easily happen on your Facebook page, so you need a plan in place.
Find out exactly what happened and how you should respond if it happens to you.

Ok, here’s another scenario for you….I’m keen to know what would you do about this?
Here’s what happened …
This question was posted on a Facebook page, “what was the last movie you watched?”
What could possibly go wrong…!?
Take a second to have a guess. If you thought people would comment about all the weird and wonderful pornographic movies they’ve watched, you’d be right.
A classic case of things not going according to plan!
That is a situation you want to have considered before something like this actually happens. So what would you do here… would you respond to the comments, ignore them, delete them or call your lawyer?
Well the first step in responding is to decide what category the comments falls in to.
Here are the 6 levels.
Level 1: Positive comment
Level 2. Neutral comment
Level 3. Negative comment (respond)
Level 4. Negative comment (ignore)
Level 5. Negative comment (delete)
Level 6. Crisis comment (escalate)
This then dictates how you would respond.
Here’s what we advised.
In this case, it was deemed Level 5. ‘Negative comment (delete)’ because it broke the ”house rules” of the Facebook page which stated that comments of a lewd or sexual nature were not acceptable and would be removed. A screenshot was taken of the comments and the comments deleted. The Facebook community was then notified why the comments had been deleted.
There are all types of different comments that you will encounter on social media and it’s important to know how to respond to them.

Remember watch the video to find out about the negative comment that saw one guy go to jail. True Story!
We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

PS. If this training isn’t appropriate for you right now, you can opt-out of further social media emails in this series — but don’t worry you’ll still get our regular Bluewire News.
PPS. Why is opt-in required when it’s Bluewire’s own material? It’s simply so that we can communicate only with people who demonstrate an interest and a commitment to learning from the free content. If it’s not for you right now, that’s totally cool too.
