My ‘lightbulb’ moment #2: Staying top of mind & attracting leads at scale. ($50k+ in closed deals)
NB. This technique isn’t dependent on posting videos of yourself..! It can be just as effective with text or image post.
So don’t fret if you are bashful or not confident posting videos at the moment.In late 2017 LinkedIn changed its platform to allow users to post videos that were less than 10 minutes long. So I started testing out videos, and that has been my major focus in 2018 in 2019. I began posting short videos to share insights and valuable PDFs — if you’re reading this page, there is a high chance you’ve seen one of my videos and interacted with me in the comments. Here’s my journey.
Phase 1: My first LinkedIn video… the start of a journey.
My first video garnered over 3,200 views, and 26 comments.
I realised it had only taken me 10 minutes to record and post it to LinkedIn and I was showing up in 1000s of people’s news feeds and staying top of mind. That 10 minute investment of time was a lot easier than 3,000 1-on-1 messages.
As a comparison, when I had posted the same video on my Facebook business page and shared it on my personal profile, it only got 875 views and 4 comments.

Phase 2: Be generous and give away value…
10,000+ views and 265 requests for my PDF…and it was very interesting that most people who viewed the video and requested the PDF were from my 2nd and 3rd degree network.
New people were discovering our content for the first time!I had ~2,000 LinkedIn contacts, yet 10,000+ people saw the video.
This sort of organic reach is unheard of on other social media platforms!
Phase 3: Experiment and refine the process …
190,000+ views and 1000s of requests for my PDF (as people ‘raised their hand’ I could nurture them to the next step!)
Even when I did transition to a more “salesy” video, where I invited people to apply to work with directly, I still had 90,000+ views and 1000+ comments expressing interest. This led directly to the 5 private clients I was looking for (each at $3k+ per month), and it filled our pipeline for the next month.
The thing I also realised, is that my videos were far from “perfect”… You can easily find faults with each of them, but perfection isn’t the goal. Sharing your insights, adding value and staying top of mind is the goal.Since I was ‘top of mind’, I started getting messages like this via LinkedIn…And this: I was amazed at how well it was coming together.As all this was happening, I felt it was my obligation to share what was working with private clients, and it worked for them too.

Chances are you have a few questions about the LinkedIn course, and I’ve received quite a few, so let me address the questions
Objection #1: My clients aren’t on LinkedIn / It won’t for my business.
My answer:
(1) If you do a LinkedIn search for your ideal clients, most people are blown away by how many potential clients it uncovers. I showed you how to do this earlier in the week. If your clients genuinely aren’t on LinkedIn, this course won’t help, but please conduct the search so you can know for sure whether your market is on LinkedIn.(2) Agreed — most people on LinkedIn use it poorly and try to sell in an inappropriate, spammy way. However that says more about the people than the platform. LinkedIn is essentially the digital version of a business function with all your ideal clients in attendance. If presented with a room full of ideal clients, most of us would introduce ourselves, engage in conversations and build relationships. Sadly few follow this approach on LinkedIn…which is also exciting because it presents the opportunity to stand out and interact like a good business person.
Objection #2: It seems too risky.
I know you have attempted to de-risk my decision with your 3X ROI guarantee however, putting it bluntly, I find that a little ‘thin’.
My answer:
3X ROI is my guarantee — if you don’t reach that as a bare minimum, I am happy to reimburse your investment if you can show you’ve done the work. That said, typical results are are up to a 10X ROI depending on your business, your clients, how well you implement, your offer, your network etc. Plus I have a 30 day no-questions asked guarantee. This course will work if you do the work and trust the system. However, if those assurances don’t work for you, then I wouldn’t enrol.
Objection 3: I don’t have the time.
I know you suggest that I should be prepared to invest around 20mins per day to maintain the program. If I factor the cost of this – either my time or engaging someone to do it for me – into the equation then this further erodes the value proposition.
My answer:
As for infrastructure, my system is a very low-tech approach. If you can message on LinkedIn, write an email and book calls you are already equiped with all the skills you require!
Question #5: Yikes, do I need to do videos of myself?
My only real query is: How dependent on video is it?? I have some reservations/bashfulness about videoing myself + I don’t think that most ‘punters’ do it terribly well – IMHO. You do a great job of it, but you’re an experienced, and possibly, a natural presenter.Do you think that I could elevate my LinkedIn outcomes if I used your techniques in your course, but used graphics?
My answer:
The course certainly works without needing to put out videos of yourself! I totally get being bashful about video — it can be quite confronting and takes practice — but the good thing is it works just as well with text &/or image posts.
eg. This image post still got 153 comments (half are mine though) and 9,000 views.
That said, the lion’s share on the course (module 1-3) is about finding ideal clients, personal outreach and messaging — so all under-the-radar in terms of what people see publicly.
