Subj: Make it your own – template design files

Here’s one more piece of the Web Strategy Planning Template roll out — the original design files so you can easily co-brand them or build upon them.

It includes the .AI file for the front diagram side of the template and a Word Doc for the flipside of the template.

Instructions

Simply, share these files with your designer and create your own version of the template.

Make it your own

The template is released under Creative Commons (Attribution 3.0) which means you are encouraged to use it, share it, build upon it, co-brand it or even re-brand it. You can also use it commercially.

Technically, you are meant to leave the attribution link to the Bluewire website and to David Meerman Scott’s website, so we encourage you to play fair here, but you can edit anything else you like.

You can add your logo in the top right and it can be co-branded. You can even remove the Bluewire logo and add yours in. That’s fine by us, if that works better for you.

Why are we doing this?

Sometimes people seem a bit perplexed that we’d give away our IP for free and make it easily re-brandable, so let us explain.

There are a number of reasons.

#1. Many people have told us they’ve found the template valuable and that feedback means a lot to us. Our marketing philosophy is “to be generous and helpful” so we are practising what we teach. If more people use the template and share it, then hopefully even more businesses and marketers will derive value.

#2. If this template experiment gets traction, it opens up the possibility of releasing the rest of our templates as “co-brandable or re-brandable” documents along with training videos for each. This might become a premium product in future. In fact if you’re interested please click here and we’ll keep you in the loop as this beta-product takes shape.

Btw, the Web Strategy Planning Template will remain free and so will the PDF version of the other 33+ templates.

#3. There are numerous other business benefits… people engage us to speak at their conference or train their team. By delivering value for free, it builds trust and authority which in turn allows us to charge premium prices for both the speaking and private consulting.

#4. It helps put us on the map, and people can “get to know us” via this material.

#5. We are no longer an agency and we’re keen to share what we’ve learnt over the last decade with marketing agencies and consultants.

The beauty of marketing on the web is that you can be generous and helpful which is rewarding of itself AND it’s also the best way to attract customers, students and commercial opportunities.
