Continue ReadingMicrosoft presents some Email Marketing challenges!
If designing & developing great email marketing templates wasn’t already enough of a challenge, (one we take pride in here at Bluewire Media), Microsoft has decided to use Word to render HTML in the latest version of Outlook 2010.
This means for the next 5 years your email designs will need tables for layout, have no support for CSS definitions like float and position, no background images and lots more. This not only provides us as designers & developers with a challenge but it also means non-technical email marketers will be forced to be more reliant on their web designers to ensure their emails are readable and not broken.…

Write Interesting Emails & Avoid the Inbox Vortex
This article, Write Interesting Emails & Avoid the Inbox Vortex was originally published on Digital Ministry on 2 June, 2009.

It’s also known as list fatigue and usually happens because the emails are no longer (or never have been) interesting or relevant.…

Adtech Sydney – social networking questions
Hi there!
It’s good to be back in Brisbane after a few days down in Sydney attending the Adtech conference this week.
We went down excited by the prospect of Adam facilitating a session on email marketing discussing acquisition, retention and marketing strategies. No doubt he’ll fill you in on a bit more detail when he gets the chance.
From my point of view, there were some great keynote addresses from big wigs around the globe particularly discussing digital trends and digital strategies. One of the best sessions was a panel discussion between the regional managers of social networking sites.…

I addressed this question: “Why is anyone going to open & read & action your email?”
The major ‘take home’ message was to have great content & to make it easy for the reader to follow your call to action!
The 20 Tips included simple things like using consistent From Lines & meaningful Subject Lines to making sure that the email ‘works’ when images are disabled.
All 20 Tips can be viewed in the powerpoint below & a video of the first 9 minutes is down under that.…
