Mike O’Hagan gave us the heads-up so on the FlipCam we bought on.  (He was inspired by the success of the Will It Blend You Tube series).

We bought a Flipcam and started interviewing people at events.

How to use iMovie to create YouTube videos

Updated on July 8th, 2013

So, my time here at Bluewire as a marketing intern from QUT has been spent editing videos the guys have done with industry leaders and clients on how they use the web to do business.

Why publish videos?

To quote David Meerman Scott, “On the web, you are what you publish”

I must confess i am a Mac advocate, owning an iPod, iPhone and Macbook completing the trifecta of Mac products. So what i have to say may be bias towards iMovie. There are many great products and software out there which are useful for editing and creating movies and video content.…

Video blogging – tips to get started

Updated on July 15th, 2013

Over the years we’ve recorded and shared dozens of video interviews with experts across a whole range of fields. Not only have we learned a whole lot ourselves through the knowledge of others, we’ve also been able to share a whole variety of perspectives with our own audience.

On the strategy side of things we have also generated hundreds of re-tweets, back-links and contacts through sharing these videos.

And while it’s as simple as recording, editing and posting a video, there are some nifty ways that you can leverage your video blogging (or vlogging) to make it more beneficial for your overall web strategy.…

Q&A with Kelly Olexa – social media, vlogging & the power of conversation

Updated on July 15th, 2013

A few weeks back I was lucky enough to have the chance to meet and interview Kelly Olexa.

With more than 28,000 followers on Twitter, a successful YouTube channel that receives thousands of hits per entry, and a book on the way, it’s clear Kelly Olexa knows a thing or two about the power of social media when harnessed correctly.

Here she tells us how she fell into social media as a means of professional networking after losing her job. But the level of success that came out of “talking alot” as Kelly modestly puts it, could hardly have been anticipated.…

0% staff turnover? 400% ROI? Dollar return? – Use social media says Deloitte Digital CEO

How do you measure an ROI on Social Media???

It’s not always easy to measure an ROI on Social Media, but, as a part of my interview with him in Sydney, Deloitte Digital CEO Peter Williams (@rexster), says:

“Generally being a firm of accountants we measure it based on how many dollars we get back and the answer is: a sh!tload.”

Without wanting to give away too much here are a couple of highlights:

3 measurables they’ve tracked:

  1. Deloitte have dropped their recruitment agent fees to nearly zero using a Facebook app called “Join me at Deloitte” they developed for their employees.

Enter World Vision On The Old Spice Train

I’ve been hugely taken with and amused by the Old Spice viral campaign that’s been unfolding over the past few months, from “I’m on a horse” to the string of personalised video messages addressed to the likes of Rose McGowan (“we are both attractive movie stars who just got married in my brain“).

It’s a basic and effective appeal to the audience, and I like it!

I’m also impressed by the makeshift version World Vision unleashed today. It’s a clever crack at piggybacking off some phenomenal viral success, and I wish them many  happy views on their YouTube clip.…

TWEETS – because we all love an acronym

During a recent brainstorming session with Malcolm Burrows over at Rostron Caryle we came up with a new way to plan, implement, and measure the success of a social media policy.

Here’s how it goes:

Target Market

Who are they and how will you reach them?

Buyer Persona 1:

Buyer Persona 2:

Buyer Persona 3:

Watching

How will you measure what’s being said on social media sites?

Who will be responsible for monitoring this?

Emergency

What constitutes an emergency for your organisation?

1.

2.

3.

Who is responsible in the event of an emergency?…

What’s your YouTube channel?

We love YouTube!

We use it to share testimonials, press appearances and interviews we’ve conducted with inspiring and interesting people. We also use it to introduce ourselves and our services to clients, potential staff and anyone interested in what we do!

What do you use it for?

Here are some examples of what you’ll find on our YouTube channel:

Our welcome video

Here, we get the chance for our audience to ‘meet’ the directors of our company and explain first hand what it is we do.

Testimonials

Rather than us telling you what we think of our work, you can hear it from our clients.…

What’s your social networking success story?

We’re passionate advocates of using social networking for business marketing and delight in sharing success stories that began at a tweet, a Facebook discussion, a YouTube clip or a blog post.

Remember our interview with David Meerman Scott?  The one where he blogged about General Motors and ended up landing a meeting with the CEO?

Amazing right?

On a much smaller scale many of us are continually experiencing the benefits of social networking. A personal success story of mine unfolded a couple of weeks ago…

I’m currently enrolled in a music blogging course as part of my journalism degree at QUT (yep, blogging has hit the curriculum).…
