I just wanted to share a few pivotal moments in our own marketing journey at Bluewire Media. I share these because my hope is you can apply the same lessons to your own digital marketing and become an attraction business.
Here are the pivotal moments.
#1. Uncovering and publishing a “lead magnet” (aka flagship content) for our ideal buyers.
By this I mean, publish premium content that is so valuable people would pay you for it if you asked them (but you offer it as a gift). It is content you are known for and it actually gives people a “little win” so they make progress in their journey with you.
When we released the original Web Strategy Planning Template back in 2010, it was downloaded 1000s of times and allowed us to demonstrate a marketing framework that made sense to prospective clients.
#2. Making the lead magnet available (for free) in exchange for someone’s email address
We originally had the Web Strategy Planning Template as a free download with no opt-in. We thought this was the best way for our content to be spread far and wide. This was true in many respects although there were two problems we found… Firstly we had no idea who these people were who downloaded it, and secondly we didn’t have the ability to deliver more valuable resources to them.
So we tested out having the template on a “landing page” where people identified themselves by entering their email address in order to get the template. This worked incredibly well because now we could continue to email valuable information to them and we grew our list of email subscribers.
#3. Sending regular emails
The beauty of email is that we all use it, and it is the perfect way to nurture a relationship with a prospect. You can add value direct to their inbox and in doing so earn trust. The more we did this the more people wanted to do business with us. The more we taught people what to do, the more they wanted to engage our services to help them. Today there are over 26,000 active subscribers who receive emails like this from us. As we nurture these relationship and make commercial offers, we find we have a steady flow of prospects and clients.
Discovering the power of these 3 things has really moved the needle for our business.
