As we approach ‘silly season’, lots of us are gearing up to celebrate the highlights of 2016 or perhaps lament the things that we didn’t quite get round to. December is just around the corner but there are still 5 weeks before the year is out, which means plenty of time to finish whatever ‘project’ you’re working on!

As for us, we’ll be releasing 4 brand new training videos in the next fortnight. We’re just putting the finishing touches on them now. Plus we’ve got 2 new templates for you. Stay tuned.

We’ve also been firming up details for our Bluewire 2 Day Web Marketing Bootcamp for 2017. Dates are (almost certainly) 4-5th April 2017. Tickets will be limited. Last week I also had the great pleasure of learning from two very prolific, international content marketers, Neil Patel and Sujan Patel. Yes, they are related (cousins) and they have each built impressive online marketing and software businesses.

They were over from the US, in part, to collaborate with local Sydney marketing expert Aaron Agius from Louder Online.

3 things I learnt from Neil Patel and Sujan Patel.

#1. “The money is in the people who say no.”

What this means is that most people who visit your website (or social media profiles) don’t buy from you immediately…. and most money is made on the follow up via email marketing. So focus on getting a lead (email subscriber) by offering something of value, aka flagship content / lead magnet.

#2. “Have a 2 step checkout to increase conversions 10%.”

This means having a small preliminary step, like entering your name and email, and then having a second step where you enter your credit card info and shipping address. This makes the first part very frictionless and you’re also making a micro-commitment, which increases the likelihood of completing the transaction.

#3. “Monitor company mentions online and ask for a backlink”

If you’re interested in being more visible on Google this technique will increase your SEO and help you rank on Google. The more good quality backlinks you have, the more authority you have!
