How the Gadget Guy uses the iPad – Peter Blasina
Pete Blasina is well known on Australian TV as the Gadget Guy. I was thrilled to meet Pete when we were on the same panel at the “Man vs Machine” debate in Sydney’s lower town hall recently.
After the debate, I interviewed Pete ‘The Gadget Guy’ about his favourite new business toy – Apple’s iPad.
Discover how what started out as a entertainment device has quickly become a really valuable business tool at Peter’s company.
Pete “The Gadget Guy” discusses the Apple iPad
Hi. I’m Pete, the Gadget Guy, and I’m going to just talk about the iPad. Now, I know it’s had a lot of publicity lately, but we’ve bought it for our salespeople at Gadget Group and a variety of other people who go out and talk to clients about what we do as a content creation company. What’s been really interesting with that is our original perception of the iPad that was we certainly weren’t going to get the sales people because we kind of felt it was an entertainment device. But what we now do with it is a couple of great things: We’ve been able to upload content that we’ve produced into e-books, so it’s easily demonstrated when our salespeople or other people within the group go and see clients; as well, we can put video (on the iPad), and then we can supply our customers with that video and those e-books to use on their own site or perhaps in their own iPads in business.
So, it has been interesting – and in talking to other businesses – what’s become very clear with the iPad is that the original perception of how it’s going to work, differs greatly after a month when you’ve actually used the product, and you find it working into different ways in your business. I see it as possibly one of the best business tools we’ve ever integrated into the company.
