Timeline for Pages, Stop Kony 2012 and Olly
If you are the administrator of a Facebook Page then you are no doubt aware that the timeline format will become mandatory for Facebook Pages March 30, 2012. Any change to Facebook can be daunting, especially when your brand is attached to it; so here are a list of all the changes:
- Reveal tabs are no longer. Facebook has removed the capability to make a custom tab your default landing page.
- All Facebook users now have 2 profile photos, one large banner and the other a smaller box shaped profile image.
- There are restrictions as to what the large banner can contain. The following are prohibited:
– You can’t include purchase information.
– You can’t include contact information including website URL.
– You can not include Facebook actions such as “LIKE” or Share”.
– You can’t make any references to features or discounts.
(ignoring these rules can lead to the removal of your Facebook Page)

Were You Asked to STOP Kony?
Over the past week the media has been buzzing about the social media storm that is the viral video STOP Kony. Some are even saying that March 8 (the day it went viral) will forever be known in the social media calendar as “Kony 2012 Day”.
If you have some how missed all the commotion Joseph Kony is the leader of the LRA (Lord’s Resistance Army), a rebel group based in Uganda who is responsible for the abduction of over 250,000 children. The children are separated into gender with the boys forced to pick up a gun and made to deface and kill the members of their family and others in the community and the girls are forced to become sex slaves. You might be wondering why I am talking politics and war but by Monday morning the video was all over my news feeds and by the end of the day my news feed was divided; is this a hoax.
Film maker Jason Russel’s 30 minute high definition, cinematic masterpiece made social media heads spin when it exposed Joseph Kony and the atrocities that the people of Uganda have been facing. However for me something was not right. The video did not mimic the usual “Bowling for Columbine Format”, it looked like a hollywood blockbuster; the only thing missing was the A List stars. My newsfeed urged me to share this video, to like it, to spread the word!
