I stumbled across this blog post, which made me smile. The Apple.com website, imagined as it would have been 26 years ago… Rainbow logo included!

Last night I went along to a talk given by type design superstar Kris Sowersby held by the Australian Graphic Design Association.
After getting his start at the Wanganui School of Design, Kris now heads up his type foundry Klim, based in Wellington, NZ. He’s worked for some of the best design agencies in the world (Pentagram, Parallax, DNA) and was behind one of the biggest fonts of last year, FF Meta Serif, the serif brother of FF Meta which readers would all recognise as the corporate font used by the Brisbane City Council.…

Property Industry Web Strategy report – coming soon!!
After weeks of research, I’m getting closer to publishing my review of the web strategies and web designs of 15 leading Australian property companies.
It’s been interesting so far. I have selected 25 criteria across different aspects of web design and strategy including: SEO, useability, design, content and social media. Against these 25 criteria I’ve given each company a score from “Excellent”, “Good”, “OK”, “Needs work” and “Critical”.
For the most part they all seem to have the basics in reasonable order but there are very few pushing the boundaries to add value to their various stakeholders.…
Continue ReadingA trivial pursuit
If you’re like me, you’re always on the lookout for trivia. I think it’s fascinating that I know that:
- the sun rose at 5:06am the day I was born but also that there were no known notable events that day (which is false, obviously);
- Dave was used as a female’s name in the US in 1882 and there’s also a company called Famous Dave’s of America (currently trading at $6.25 USD or $7.80 AUD, a market cap of almost $56 million and 3100 employees);
- the colour “burnt umber” on a computer screen in 14% blue and is complimentary to a nice dark sea green…
…and also that Stephen Wolfram was born on August 29th 1959, in London, and released Wolfram|Alpha (computational knowledge engine) this May.…
