Jab Jab Jab Right Hook

I’ve just been reading Gary Vaynerchuk’s latest book Jab Jab Jab Right Hook.  It’s chock-full of real life social media examples, presumably many success stories are from his stable of social media clients at his company VaynerMedia.

I’ve loved both his previous books Crush It and Thank You Economy as well as his keynote presentation I had the pleasure of watching last year.

This slide deck is one of the best I’ve come across.  What do you think?

Storytelling in 2014 from Gary Vaynerchuk

You can buy Gary Vaynerchuk’s book Jab Jab Jab Right Hook from Amazon.…

5 Tools to Improve Your Website Speed

Improve Website Speed

I cannot emphasise enough how important load times are for your business website. Fast-loading sites tend to have higher traffic, conversions, and search engine rankings. It’s simple – nobody wants to wait seconds for a page to load. How many times have you clicked away from a site when it is slow to load?

That’s why web optimisation is crucial to improve website speed and performance. A lot of times, it gets neglected, overlooked, or sacrificed for fancier web content. There are also times when webmasters just deliberately skip the optimisation part because it’s tedious and time consuming.…

“Don’t know where I’m going, only God knows where I’ve been…” Jon Bon Jovi, Blaze of Glory

In the last few months, Adam and I have taken on some clients on a 1-on-1 basis, acting as a virtual marketing manager. Based on feedback from the clients, we have come to realise that one of the very first steps needs to be the setting up of the marketing reporting function for the business.

Measuring everything is a seductive siren in the online marketing world. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.…

Tim Ferriss and Toby Jenkins

As a huge fan of Tim Ferriss’s work, I was stoked to have the opportunity to meet him in Sydney last month at an event put on by The Growth Faculty.

In typical Tim fashion, rather than presenting his journey as a series of events, he walked us through using the questions he’d asked, sharing the stories and discoveries of what he learnt in his search for the answers.

  1. What if I did the opposite for 48 hours?
  2. What do I spend silly amounts of money on?
  3. What’s my real Target Monthly Income (TMI)?

What Your Employees Need To Know About BYOD

This is a guest blog post by freelance writer Kim Hanson. When Kim isn’t playing with her smartphone, she’s developing apps for it — and keeping up with current mobile news.

Over to you Kim

When a company develops any rule, policy or best practice and communicates it to its employees, putting it into context helps the staff understand why it exists, which makes it easier to respect and observe the policy. So, as a company builds a rule for employees who use their own devices to access company-owned data and information, it should keep in mind that they don’t respond well to “thou shalt” style commandments.…

The journey to a useful intranet [Part 2] – Quality Management

Quality Manual

In my previous blog post The journey to a useful intranet [part 1] I very spoke briefly about our Quality Assurance certification and how we have used the Bluewire Wiki (intranet) to meet certain requirements. As the Quality Manager at Bluewire, I wanted to share my experience and how we have integrated these mandatory requirements into our existing wiki.

Initially our quality manual was a 20 page PDF document on the server that no one ever read (as often happens with these types of documents). It meant that a majority of the information was there because it had to be and really didn’t add any value to the business, team or overall customer satisfaction which is the entire point of it’s existence.…

To continue with my marketing experiments, I’ll be lifting the kimono on what we’re doing here at Bluewire — the good the bad and the ugly.  Here’s my warts’n all report for the month of November 2013. Click to tweet this post!

Traffic was a record 11,000+ month

For the first time ever, we cracked the 11k mark with 11,823 visitors, with a real boost in numbers coming from the 10th onwards. This co-incided with the release of our first infographic called LinkedIn 5 Minute Marketing Plan. Thanks to Rob Mondolo for the design and Selina Power for the content.…
