Twitter is something many people in the web industry are familiar with, but when I speak to ‘normal’ people I am still greeted with blank looks.
If you’re a first timer, this presentation explains Twitter in 5 minutes.
This video is from Ignite Brisbane – an exciting speaking series where the speakers get 5 minutes with 20 slides that rotate automatically every 15 seconds!
Conference organisers I speak with often say “I’d love to do more with social media but where do I find the time?”
When I addressed the Australian Conference & Events Bureau(ACEB)I demonstrated that if you set up social media early enough and provide good content, you can let the enthusiasm of the delegates, speakers and exhibitors do a lot of the hard work for you. And this is what helps create the buzz and drive registrations!
Does that sound worth giving social media a go?
As case studies: I’ve chosen the digital marketing conference ad:tech Sydney that uses Twitter and its blog well.…
Have you ever sat down to write blog post and just gone blank?
Have you ever sat down and wondered where on earth you’re going to start?
Have you ever sat down and wondered what on earth you’re going to write about?
I know I have and so I figure there might be a few others out there that could use a few tips! Legendary blogger, Jonathan Crossfield (who also happens to be Communications Manager at Netregistry – domain & hosting company) was generous enough to answer many of these questions when we caught up in Sydney.
In this 7 min interview, Jonathan answers:
– How he got started his first blog?
– Why his blog succeeded when so many failed?…
I recently revealed my “secret formula for email marketing success” during a presentation at EMSA – the Email Marketing Summit Australia.
Here’s a 5 minute snippet where I outline 6 common mistakes & I share the biggest ‘oops’ I’ve ever made!
All of you know the six most common mistakes people, including me, make. I’ll teach you how to write, find and engage in emails. I’ll teach you, most importantly, how social media can really maximise the results in email campaigns.
We do make some mistakes, don’t we? I’ve certainly made a lot and it could be prevented, so your life is mainly to serve as a warning to others.…
Twitter have now finished their staged roll-out of the new ‘Lists’ feature across the social media network. Let’s take a look at where Lists are capable of playing a role in your businesses social media activities.

A marketing coordinator at a flagship radio station recently made a comment which got me thinking about what we really take from the words we read. She noted that many of us spend upwards of three years learning how to win grades with fancy words, only to unlearn much of it as soon as we hit the world of employment. She referred to the need to “dumb things down” for the masses.
While I certainly agree that much of the wording used in essays becomes useless in the ‘real world’ – I don’t think that short, punchy copy equates to “dumbing down”.…
